SUMMARY

Under direct supervision, Cycle Count Clerks accurately count inventory and keep management informed of current inventory levels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedules 
  • Performs follow-up action to insure all parts are available at the proper time
  • Expedites delivery of goods to users
  • Familiar with all aspects of inventory control, Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Cycle Count systems
  • Follows clerical and office procedures and practices
  • Counts inventory levels for designated location
  • Corrects discrepancies as necessary
  • Works with other personnel as required to correct inventory issues
  • Runs reports as needed for management and others when requested
  • Completes special projects related to inventory as assigned by the Purchasing and Inventory Control Manager or Inventory Control Manager (Riverside)
  • Maintains obsolete inventory database
  • Participates on project teams that intertwine with inventory control
  • Participates in physical inventory:
    • Counts inventory at determined intervals.
    • Enters the data entry of item counts.
    • Assists in the preparation of final inventory reports when requested.

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Good organization and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Accurate typing/data entry skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to use calculator and other standard office equipment (fax, copier, scanner, etc.)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
  • Dependability
  • Flexibility to work additional hours when needed
  • Willingness to work between Chattanooga locations when required
  • Ability to provide transportation to and from either Chattanooga location when needed
  • Ability to complete and maintain forklift operation certification
  • Drug screen, physical and background/motor vehicle report check

PREFERENCES

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum one (1) year of purchasing-related experience and/or training
  • Previous cycle count experience or training in accounting, inventory control or material handling
  • One (1) or more years of purchasing-related experience or training
  • Background in heavy equipment industry
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX, Excel and/or Word software applications
  • Experience safely operating a forklift a plus
