SUMMARY

The Lead for the Production Parts Warehouse leads and coordinates activities of workers concerned with receiving, stocking, picking, inventorying and shipping materials and parts in the warehouse as directed by the supervisor by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advises employees on the care and preservation of items received, stocked, picked and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, stocking, maintaining and shipping stock and related issues
  • Develops knowledge of parts and assemblies needed for picking in addition to the timing and sequencing of these parts along with the layout of how parts and assemblies are to be packaged and shipped for production
  • Oversees printing out of the production orders and distribution to warehouse employees for picking of parts with RF Smart scan guns
  • Uses RF Smart system to create parts locations and processes material movements in addition to parts transfers
  • Accesses and understands Bills of Material (BOM) and material allocations in AX on parts
  • Communicates with inventory control on the status of parts shortages and/or overages during the picking process
  • Ensures non-production MRO-type parts are received properly in Microsoft Dynamics AX's Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP)
  • Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures and to determine adequacy of stock levels
  • Schedules work for special and periodic inventories
  • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies and recommends actions to resolve discrepancies
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow
  • Issues written and oral instructions for the day-to-day processes and procedures involved in production picking for all warehouse personnel
  • Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures, as outlined in the warehouse Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates
  • Performs final checks on each item in all outgoing shipments.  This entails ensuring that the pick list is accurate on every order
  • Lifts and packs heavy items on a daily basis, often using a forklift to transport heavy items
  • Unloads and unpacks trucks that bring material to the warehouse to ensure that the right quantities agree with the packing list
  • Processes receiving copies to the purchasing department
  • Responsible for labeling all material with the proper part number and putting it in correct locations within the warehouse
  • Keys information into computer

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises one (1) to four (4) non-supervisory Production Parts Warehouse personnel in the Warehouse Supervisor's absence to include but not limited to Shipping and Receiving Clerk(s). 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum one (1) year of shipping and receiving experience and one (1) year of experience as an expeditor with machine build processes and sequences; ability to read and complete transportation bills of lading; basic typing skills and some computer knowledge; accurate data entry and proofreading skills required.
 
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); heavy equipment shipping and receiving experience; profiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Dynamics AX software applications, RF Smart operating systems and/or safe forklift operation experience preferred.  

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX software applications and RF Smart operating systems; ability to type 30+ words per minute (WPM), knowledge of search engines required for material prints and breakdowns of component parts a plus. 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle; ability to provide transportation to and from local destinations when required; Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) check; completion/maintenance of forklift operation certification and ability to safely operate a forklift; flexibility and willingness to work additional hours required.
